Ethiopian Airlines Group Primary Basic Trade Union.

Our union is exclusively administered by our workers based on voluntary basis, and it is established to safeguard the right and interest of members, to maintain industry peace and to prevent problems from occurrence that could have otherwise been encountered by our employees; to improve working conditions; to create forum in order to enable employees have freedom of expression by having legal recognition from ministry of labor and social affairs and all concerned legal bodies.

 

Our Union being a member of the Ethiopian Workers Confederation and that of Transport and communication Industry Unions Federation, it also has good working relationship with other national and international peer workers unions. We’re one of the larger unions in the country. So, you are not alone when you join EAGPBTU. EAGPBTU continues to grow everyday thanks to the confidence that our members have in us!

Duties and responsibilities of the union

  •  To Promote, Safeguard and Improve the welfare of all members.
  •  To ensure job security of the employees;
  •  To negotiate on behalf of its member employees in connection with their rights and benefits
  •  To perform negotiations on the collective agreement
  •  To enforce the correct execution of the Collective Agreement and Labour Law
  •  To represent workers at any level.

Our union was established on 18/03/1955 G.C. before the establishment of the Ethiopian Workers Confederation. Currently, it is one of the sole renowned veteran trade unions in our country for more than half a century.
